Quality Controller

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure that a Quality Control Management Plan (QCMP) and Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) has been developed prior to the start of any construction activity.
  • Review relevant construction standards, Engineering specifications and project documents including the QCMP, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) project specifications and Issued for Construction drawings.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that they meet supplier and engineering standards.
  • Perform or witness needed tests on site to ensure conformity of material and works according to the Engineering specifications.
  • Improve or write new milestone checklists for various types of solar systems and communicate to the construction team.
  • Accept or reject finished items against milestone checklists.
  • Inspect, test, or measure the installation being produced and sign off on milestone checklists
  • Receive immediate notification from Engineering Department about non-conforming material or/and Quality incident reports and ensure re-inspection or/and re-testing. Give immediate notification to the Quality Manager
  • Ensure that all Quality records associated with the implementation of the Construction Quality Management Plan (QCMP) and Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) are kept organized and updated on SharePoint.
  • Ensure maintenance of all documents related to control of inspections, measuring, and test equipment and ensure that all relevant procedures are followed so that inspection, measuring and testing are performed under controlled conditions.
  • Track status of all inspections and testing to inform that Quality Manager and ensure that all non-conformances (NCR’s), activity (QIR’s) or procedures is recorded in the appropriate register.
  • Assist in the Quality Meetings with Quality Manager.
  • Produce Quality Incident Reports (QIR’s) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR’s) when required
  • Inspect materials as delivered to site including distribution board’s FAT.
  • Evaluate inspection and test data for final commissioning
  • Carry out final commissioning for AC, DC and inverter communication systems
  • Issue full commissioning report with CoC’s to the CM for sign off

Qualifications

  • Trade Tested Electrician
  • Wireman’s licence – Installation Electrician (IE)
  • Valid Drivers Licence
  • Must be willing to travel

Preferred skills

  • Quality Management
  • Supervisory ability
  • Installation and maintenance of Solar Systems
  • Commission of AC/DC systems

Experience required

  • 5 years’ experience as installation electrician (IE)
  • 7 Years’ experience as trade tested electrician
  • Exposure to Solar systems and/or inverters

  • Ensure compliance to safety file including heat stress, fall arrest, waste management and housekeeping
  • Reporting of all incidents/accidents

  • Planning
  • Set out work to be done with team leaders
  • Conduct daily inspections
  • Responsible for maintaining monthly asset and vehicle register
  • Manage work efficiency on site and ensure that deadlines are met
  • Quality Assurance and Control
  • Manage defective material
  • Manage Quality on site

Qualifications

  • Relevant formal qualification – Solar PV Intallation Certificate or Electrical Trade Test
  • Wireman’s Licence would be advantageous
  • Valid Drivers Licence

Preferred skills

  • Efficient in MS Office Suite
  • Effective communication skills
  • Analytical ability and attention to detail
  • Understanding of solar installations and understanding of solar construction methods
  • Practical understanding of various construction trade disciplines and or fields
  • Self-starter with ability to work professionally and independently

Experience required

  • 5 year’s Site Management and Supervisory experience in the construction or facility management environment
